STOP! What Has Your Attention?

Memory Verse: "The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being." (Matt.6:21, MSG)

Scripture Reading: Lk.12:22-34

If there's ever a time when the plague of misplaced priorities is so prevalent, it is now.

Sweet, what has your attention? To what and to whom do you allot your time and resources?

Jesus declared that these decisions demonstrate the true nature of our heart. What we really value. What is important to us [and what is not important].

Many believers declare that they love God. That they love their spouses and families. But, probing deeper, we wonder if they demonstrate these in their lives.

At a time when we are faced with the explosion of available technologies, this is becoming a more complex challenge. Increasingly, we see people glued to various devices in cars or while walking. Just about anywhere. Even while sitting in their homes surrounded by friends, loved ones or family.

What are they doing? Many are connecting via social media. Sending text messages. Watching videos on various screens. Checking the latest gossip. Playing games. Making phone calls. Some have not escaped their obsession with more traditional media. Concentrating on television programs. Tuning God others out of their lives while thinking about work or other interests.

This obsession to "connect" has become a divisive subject. A recent survey identified the ways people connect today, most often identifying social media, the Internet, and Email.

Yet many don't seem to realize the impact of these habits. How they are shutting people off. In this recent survey, 60% of adults said they wished family members would disconnect and connect with them more often. And guess what? God wishes the same too and it breaks His heart when we are not sensitive to His signals to connect with us!

Today, ask yourself what you are doing with your time? What are your priorities? Where is your heart? Are you really up and about the Father's business? [PS.: Sweetheart, you do not need to be a pastor to be involved]. Are you letting your life be dominated by technology? Media? Things?

Give yourself an honest answer. Do the needful.

Ponder Point: Living in the light of eternity [automatically] straightens your priorities.

Action Point: Live with eternity in view.

Prayer Point: Father, help me to live with the consciousness of eternity. Free me from worldly obsessions. Help me to seek You first above all else even as You help me to be genuinely interested in others in Jesus name, Amen.
