Made For Each Other

Memory Verse: "...Encourage him..." (Deut.1:38, KJV)

Scripture Reading: Gal.6:1-10.

God uses His people to encourage one another. He did not say to the angel, "Gabriel, my servant Joshua is about to lead my people into canaan. Go and encourage him." God never works needless miracles. If His purposes can be accomplished by ordinary means, He will not use miraculous methods. Angel Gabriel would not have been half as well equipped for the work of encouraging Joshua as Moses was.

A brother's sympathy is more precious than an angel's message. The angel, who was swift of wings, would have known the Master's commands but might not have been familiar with the people's character. The angel had never experienced the hardness of the road or seen the fiery serpents, neither had he led the stiff-necked multitude in the wilderness, as Moses had done.

We should be glad that God usually works for man by man. It forms a bond of brotherhood. When we are mutually dependent on one another in love, we are more completely blended into one family.

Beloved, take the text this morning as God's message to you. Work to help others, and especially strive to encourage them. Speak in an encouraging way to the young person who is anxiously seeking God, and lovingly try to move stumbling blocks out of his way. When you find a spark of grace in his heart, kneel down and blow it into a flame. Allow the young believer to discover the roughness of the road by degrees, but tell him of the strength that dwells in God, of the sureness of His promises, and the delights of communion with Christ.

Let us aim to comfort the sorrowful and to encourage the despondent. "Speak a word in season to him that is weary" (Is.50:4), and encourage those that be of a fearful heart on their way to greatness.

God encourages you by His promises, Christ encourages you as He points to the heaven He has won for you, and the Spirit encourages you as He works in you "both to will and to do of his good pleasure" (Phil.2:13). Imitate divine wisdom and encourage others as we have learnt this morning because we were made for each other.

Ponder Point: A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.

Action Point: Encourage one another.

Prayer Point: Father, I ask for a heart that accomodates others and hands that reach out to others in love and I receive it from You in Jesus name, Amen.
