Miraculous Deliverance

Memory Verse: "When Israel went forth from Egypt...The sea looked and fled; the Jordan turned back. The mountains skipped like rams, the hills, like lambs...Tremble, O earth, before the Lord, before the God of Jacob, Who turned the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a fountain of water." (Ps.114:1-7, NASB)

Scripture Reading: 2 Chron.20:1-30.

This psalm reminds us how God delivered His people from bondage in Egypt, and provided for them in miraculous ways. Facing overwhelming opposition, many doubted and were discouraged, but He never abandoned them. And He fulfilled His promises, delivering them, demonstrating that He is sovereign over nations and all nature.

This psalm calls for the earth to "tremble" before the Lord. The Hebrew word suggests dancing or twisting. Even writhing in pain. We marvel at God's provisions and power, as when He provided water from a rock. As He did in the exodus, He performed miracle after miracle, when there didn't seem to be hope.

We are to remember that He can provide the same deliverance no matter our situation. No matter how permanently we seem to be trapped. Even if there seems to be no escape.

The message this morning is that God can do anything. As He demonstrated in the exodus, there is no end to His miracles. He can confound the wisest of men. He can defeat the most powerful army. He can shape nature to accomplish His purposes. He can bless, prosper, and protect those who please and trust Him.

Today, tomorrow and the rest of this year, make sure to remember His promises and His faithfulness. He still can do for you what He did for the Israelites.

Ponder Point: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Action Point: Invoke your miraculous deliverance via praise and thanksgiving. [High] praises will fix it.

Prayer Point: Father, thank You that You are more powerful than any force. That all things are possible with You. Thank You for [my] miraculous deliverance. Thank You that I can trust in You in Jesus name, Amen.
