Your Rock, Fortress and Deliverer.

Memory Verse: "The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer...my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior...I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies...He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me." (2 Sam.22:2-18,NIV)

Scripture Reading: 2 Sam.22:1-51.

David faced overwhelming challenges. He lived at a time of continual wars and threats from Israel's neighbours. Even though he had been a hero in Israel, and had done nothing wrong, King Saul became jealous of him and sought to have him executed. As a result, David was ruthlessly hunted down and barely escaped with his life.

There were times when he became trapped and cornered. He faced situations in which there seemed no hope. People on whom he depended turned against him. For a time, he and his family even had to call on the protection of the Philistines, the ancient enemies of Israel.

Through these experiences, David realized that others might fail him, but that he could depend on God in every situation. He recognized that He was his rock, fortress, and deliverer. He realized that he always could take refuge in God and depend on Him for protection.

Today, you may face foes who seem too strong for you. The earth may be trembling around you. There may be gates standing against your breakthrough. You may be in the midst of deep waters and do not know how to survive. But if you want real peace, security, and protection, repeat aloud these promises about God: "God is my strength, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer, my high tower, my stronghold, my refuge, and my savior."

God is all this, and much more! In whatever situations you face, remember that you can depend on God! Call upon Him, and praise His name.

Ponder Point: Faith in God as your rock, fortress and deliverer is believing Him to come through for you even when everything in and around you trembles and quakes. 

Action Point: Call upon Him in faith. Praise His name with understanding.

Prayer Point: Father, You are my strength, rock, fortress, and deliverer. Thank You for saving me from my enemies. I trust in You! Thank You! You are worthy to be praised! Amen.
