Embrace Your Weakness

Memory Verse: "But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us." (2 Cor.4:7, KJV)

Scripture Reading: 2 Cor.12:9-10

Have you ever felt like a failure? Felt Inadequate? Ineffectual? Have you ever examined your heart and glimpsed sin?

I have.

It is discouraging and demoralising. It makes me wonder "what" God sees in me. This is not about a sense of low self-esteem. There is no doubt that I am a flawed vessel. But does that mean I am useless and as such should be done away with?

No. No. No!

Sometimes we try to get around weaknesses by denying them especially when we meet people that seem to be strong where we are weak but we forget that they also have their own weaknesses. Other times we tell ourselves that if we just try harder, then we will succeed, experience victory and conquer the darkness. But these are not the answers I see in scripture.

The place to begin, then, is acknowledging that we are frail, and damaged "jars of clay" that are cracked, worn and easily broken. Weakness is not to be denied. Nor we are to overcome it ourselves. Rather, weakness is to be embraced; like Paul (See 2 Cor.12:9-10). Once you acknowledge and recognise your weakness, they become a pipe for the brilliant light and the overwhelming power of God to flow through. And that is when your weakness becomes your strength.

If we wait until we are perfect to give ourselves to God, then we will never do so. But if we offer ourselves to God with all of our frailties and flaws, our damage and darkness, His light will permeate our cracks and then shine through them. He will overcome our weakness and brokenness with His strength.

This is my testimony. It can be yours too.

Ponder Point: Sometimes, our greatest strengths come from our weaknesses.

Action Point: Embrace your weaknesses.

Prayer Point: Father, let Your mighty power permeate my weaknesses even as You display Your glory through them in Jesus name, Amen.
