Give God Glory

Memory Verse: "Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to Your name let glory be given..." (Ps.115:1, BBE)

Scripture Reading: Ps.115:1-18.

It was my mother that introduced me to this Psalm. Before I ever read the bible back to back, this Psalm was already a song in my house, particularly verse 1!

Anytime God visited the 'Iniodu's family', this was our testimony and thanksgiving Psalm during our devotions and thanksgiving prayer sessions. One day I began thinking to myself what could be so special about this particular Psalm (knowing that there are other Psalms) and I found out that amongst the 6 "Passover Psalms" we have (Psalm113-118), Psam 115 is the third providing a reminder of the impact of God's deliverance, celebrated during Passover.

Oh what better day to share Psalm 115 with us: having crossed over into the second half of 2016. I want us to sit with this Psalm today.

This Psalm reminds us of all that God has done for His people, and over and over reminding us why we can trust in Him. Look back at how far God's brought you and you will agree with me that you can trust Him with the remaining six (6) months.

The Psalm begins with a declaration that God should get all the glory. That He loves us, and is faithful. The nations may think He can't help, but this Psalm reminds us that God never abandons us. He always is there, watching and ready to help. In contrast, idols project the ideas and desires of men, but they can't compare with our God! This God is a God in a class of His own!

He cannot be manipulated, and does whatever He "pleases." We are reminded that He is our help and shield, that we can trust and be confident in Him. He knows what we go through, and promises to bless and reward all who honour and fear Him, both the great and small. God can deliver on every promise because He is the Creator, the Maker of everything.

Today and for the remaining days in 2016, always remember to praise God. Praise Him while you have breath. Bless Him at all times. Remember all He's done for you! Never take His blessings for granted. And always give Him all the glory!

Ponder Point: No one can be successful at accepting glory and giving [God] glory. You're either doing one of the above.

Action Point: Give God [timely] glory.

Prayer Point: Father, thank You for the months of January through to June. Consciously, I declare that You are my keeper. I praise and worship You for a glorious entrance into July. Take all the glory in Jesus name, Amen.
