Trusting God Made Easy (V)

Proverbs 4:23.
Memory Verse: "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he..." (Prov.23:7)

Scripture Reading: 2 Cor.10:3-6.

Here's a sixth:

  • Your mental focus will help OR hinder your faith.
You will only be able to trust God to the degree that you choose to think godly thoughts. There is no other way around this. It is basically a law of the spiritual realm. Your thought life and your faith life are so interwoven that you probably do not even recognise where one begins and where the other ends.

No wonder Paul wrote, "We take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ." (2 Cor.10:5). Without the proper focus, it is impossible to live with much faith. We need to remember that faith can only be built on spirit truth. It can never be built on lies. If the foundation of your faith is not the truth, then your "faith" is not biblical faith.

What thoughts do you readily entertain? It is tough to think straight for even a minute, isn't it? I understand because I've been here before: boy, I had a Ph.D degree in negativity until God sent me help via the teachings of Joyce Meyer.

You see the challenge to "think straight" is even greater than the challenge to "live straight." In all sincerity, straight living can only happen when straight thinking is taking place. That's because one of the greatest 'acts' of a christian disciple is to think on things that are pure and wholesome.

I close with this thought line, "Our faith in God will either increase or decrease depending on our thought life." There is no other way.

Ponder Point: "Summing it all up, friends, I'd say you'll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious-the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse." (Phil.4:8, MSG)

Action Point: Think the word.

Prayer Point: Lord, as I commit myself to spending ample with Your word, transform my thought life in Jesus name, Amen.
