Dealing With Fear

Memory Verse: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear..." (2 Tim.1:7, NLT)

Scripture Reading: Mk.6:45-52.

Fear is a spirit (we see this clearly from our memory verse) and it kills faster than death. It is therefore safe to conclude that fear is more lethal than death.

When a man receives (PS: the spirit of fear is a gift; hence the word 'given') the spirit into his life, it cripples him and that is why fearful people are never sure of anything. They are constantly plagued with anxiety and doubts.

However, there is an antidote to fear and that is the Word of God. The Word of God is the antidote to fear. Reading, studying, listening and meditating on the Word of God constantly produces confidence in our spirit.

Like I said earlier, fear is a gift (speaking from a place of revelation) and for there to be a gift, there has to be a giver. Since God is definitely not the Giver, the devil is and he goes around distributing this spirit to those that are without the true knowledge of the Word of God and because they are ignorant, they receive it.

Apostle Peter learnt about fear the hard way.

Just a short while ago, he asked Jesus to bid him come and Jesus did bid him come and he began to walk on water! However, as he was walking, the focus of his gaze changed and he began to sink.

Friends, we start sinking the moment we take our eyes off the Word. But as long as our gaze is on the Word, we will not sink; the prevailing circumstance not withstanding.

Now that we know that the Word of God is the surest antidote to dealing with the spirit of fear, wisdom demands that we become friends with the Word and allow the word influence our minds and spirits.

Therefore, whatever area of our lives that may have been crippled by this spirit, we now know that we can take the Word of God as it relates to those areas and confront the spirit of fear. Go ahead and confront every fear in or around your life with the faith-inspiring and confidence-building Word of God and watch the spirit of fear bow out of your life.

Ponder Point: Everything you want is on the other side of fear.

Action Point: Deal with the spirit of fear using the Word of God.

Prayer Point: Father, in the name of Jesus, I take the Word of God as it relates to (mention those areas you find yourself walking in fear) and I stand on its authority and dislodge the effect of the spirit of fear on my mind. I walk in total victory today and for the rest of my life, Amen.
