Salvation Is Not Just Enough

Memory Verse: "Oh, my dear children! I feel as if I’m going through labor pains for you again, and they will continue until Christ is fully developed in your lives." (Gal.4:19, NLT)

Scripture Reading: Eph.3:1-21

My Father in the Lord, Pst. (Dr) Paul Enenche asked a question in one of his messages that got me thinking. He asked, "Why birth souls with the seriousness that is less than that of a doctor?"

Think deeply about that.

Any mother that believes that all there is to raising a child ends in the labour room after delivery still has a very long way to go. The real work begins outside the delivery room.

All my little life I've lived with bigger babies and so I felt child nurturing is no big deal but moving in to live with my cousin who has a 9 months old baby is teaching me otherwise!

This same principle holds true for birthing souls in the kingdom. That's why, salvation is not just enough: it is only the beginning of  the nurturing process.

In other words, getting a soul to say the prayer of salvation and leaving the spiritual baby to itself will not get the job done. If you stop at this point, this soul might not live; even if it manages to live, its growth will be stunted.

Just as it is with new born babies, God expects us to nurture (pray for and breastfeed) them with the undiluted milk of His word also watching them closely till they "take roots downwards and bear fruits upwards" (2 Kgs.19:30). This way, our spiritual service to God as stewards of His Kingdom is thorough and complete and most assuredly, He will reward us.

In conclusion, like I'm learning now with physical motherhood: if you are not ready for spiritual motherhood (nurturing a soul), don't even begin the process. Or like someone who wasn't ready for the demands of motherhood would do: birth the baby and give them up for adoption. Do same with your spiritual babies, after birthing them, hand them to someone or persons who can nurture them to establishment.

This is important because, you will give account for every soul you birthed but refused to nurture. Don't watch your [spiritual] babies die: no loving mother would do that!

Ponder Point: Any spiritual baby left to himself or herself will die and that soul will be required from you.

Action Point: Follow up on the souls you have won and will win for the Lord.

Prayer Point: Father, I ask from You the wisdom required for effective follow up on the souls I birth into Your Kingdom. I believe that I have received it of You in Jesus name, Amen.
