His Promises Are Yea And Amen

Memory Verse: "For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory." (2 Cor.1:20, ESV)

Scripture Reading: 2 Kgs.4:8-37.

Have you ever had someone break a promise to you? It could have been a spouse breaking their marital covenant or a boss breaking his or her promise of a promotion. Maybe a parent or sibling promised to help you with something and they let you down. Regardless of who made the promise or what they promised to do, it is hard to trust someone who breaks their promises.

YET (go ahead and echo yet) the promises that GOD makes to us are always "yes".

The Lord will follow through on His promises (no matter how long it may take before they are fulfilled) because He never lies to us. His promises are good and faithful from now until eternity. They do not expire when the economy crashes or war is declared. God's promises are not limited by evil people or leaders. He will still accomplish His promises regardless of who is in control of the government.

When we receive a promise from God—there is a responsibility on our part. Ours is to show we believe by saying, Amen. Amen meaning that we agree with the promises of God. There will be many opportunities for us to doubt God's promises. Yet we can resist doubt and fear by proclaiming in prayer that we will stand in agreement with what God promises in His word.

There is a lot that can happen between "yes" and "amen". We are often questioned for our faith in God when it seems like the promise will fall through. Sometimes we are ridiculed from believing in what we cannot see at the moment. However, if we continue (the key is continuity) to pray about His promises and trust Him to fulfill them, our strength will be renewed and we will find our "amen".

However, the only way to know God's promises is to know His word. The reading and meditating of God's word will empower our faith to believe beyond what we see in front of us. When we are tempted to doubt, we speak the word of faith from the Bible and we cannot help but say 'Amen' because we believe.

I know I'm writing to people who are going through contrary situations, my advice to you this morning is to find out what God has promised concerning those situations from His word and begin meditating on them. Also, if the Lord has made promises to you since the year began, write them down. Pray through. Confess them. Believe them. And of course, expect these promises to bud. Remember, they may be delayed but surely, they will come to pass.

Ponder Point: The promises God makes He never breaks.

Action Point: Believe God's promises to you.

Prayer Point: Dear Lord, I know that every promise from You will be opposed but I choose to stand on Your word and I expect Your promise for my life to be fulfilled in the right time of your perfect will even as You grant me the grace to say "amen" in faith to every promise in Jesus name, Amen.
